The Shipping Forecast and The Emerging Icons Unsigned Top 10 Chart

Hello there! First of all thanks to those of you who came along to our show last Friday at The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool, it was great to be back on stage for the first time this year and to see all the support! We had the pleasure of hanging around with headliners RAMS’ Pocket Radio once the evening was over and to say they were rather good would be a little bit of an understatement. The fact that they’re also such a great bunch of people just reinforces where they are as a band right now and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them explode into the mainstream soon.

We’d also like to give a big shout out to the lovely people at the brand new Something About Muzic blog who came along to do their first gig review and wrote this rather lovely post about the evening (they also took the photo above, cheers guys). Although, to be honest, we’re pretty sure that they just came along for the N64 that the venue had upstairs…

Looking forward to the coming few days though, things are getting exciting. We’re going to be featured on the Emerging Icons Unsigned Top 10 Chart, which goes out on Hub Radio (listen in here) on Sunday 26th February at about 3pm, perfect for some lazy afternoon listening. How is this chart decided, you may ask? Well all you have to do to show your support is ‘like’ this post over at the Emerging Icons facebook page. Couldn’t be simpler!

UPDATE (27/02/2012) : Thank you to every one of you lovely people who voted for us by liking that post! We eventually came in at number 3 in the charts and got our track Empty Sky put forward to DJ Pete Donaldson of Absolute Radio for review. You guys are awesome.

First Show Of The Year

Last year was a little bit full of gigs, to say the least. If two weeks had gone by without us getting up on stage then something had probably gone wrong. So in a nice change of pace (it’s been over two months since we embraced the subtle joys of MOHO Live in Manchester) we are very pleased to announce our first show of the year! On Friday the 17th February we’ll be supporting RAMS’ Pocket Radio at The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool. They’re rather good! Don’t take our word for it though, have a watch of this video…

If you fancy an evening of that (and us of course) then get down for around 7pm where it’s £6.50 on the door. Alternatively, send us a sneaky Tweet or message on Facebook beforehand telling us you’re coming and we’ll put you on the guestlist where you can get in for only £4 instead. Bargain!

If you can’t make it to this then don’t worry, we’ve got a few more shows lined up in the coming months. You can either catch us at The Attic in Manchester on the 22nd of March or at The Kazimier in Liverpool on the 26th of May where we’ll be supporting The Fifth Movement. As always, if we’re not playing any shows near where you are then just give us a shout and we’ll see what we can do!

Yesterday’s Photoshoot and Tomorrow’s Roadtrip

Getting some photos done is something that’s always been on our list of things to do but whenever we’ve managed to get ourselves in the same place at the same time with a photographer it’s either been dark or absolutely pouring it down. Yesterday was quite nice though because for the first time it was neither dark or pouring it down. It was just absolutely freezing cold instead. However the rather amazing Mike Brits persevered and we finally had our first proper photoshoot. Here’s one of the teaser shots from Sefton Park that Mike has uploaded to his Facebook page and we have been informed that the rest will be following shortly!

After the shoot we had a few hours to spare before we were booked in at LIPA for writing and rehearsals, so we seized the opportunity to do something we’ve never really done before; just relax and go for something to eat. This was definitely a good idea. Elle  recommended a lovely place on Hardman Street called Bistro Jacques, at one point during her meal shouting “This place is my FAVOURITE!” to the surprise of everyone else in the restaurant. We strongly urge you to try the steak if you’re ever around the area.

Tomorrow we’re up early and back on the road though, making a return to the wonderful city of London. Tom Robinson has kindly asked us to come down and say a few words on his show on BBC 6 Music (yes!) so who are we to refuse such an offer? We’re not sure when it’s going out on the radio yet but as soon as we know then we’ll let you know too on our Facebook, Twitter and so on. Also, we’re hoping to hijack an open mic while we’re down there so if you know any places that are running a night then give us a shout.

Much Love!
